The "Gents Orgelcentrum" (Ghent Organ center) was founded in 1951. The object of the organization is to keep alive the history and art of the organ. Yearly organ concerts are organized in July and August in the Saint-Bavo's Cathedral and offer Belgian and international soloists the opportunity to bring both unknown and well-known organ music to a broad audience. The organ festival is organized by the GOC (Ghent Organ Center) under the highly appreciated support and collaboration of the religious authorities of the Saint-Bavo's Cathedral and the city of Ghent under the auspices of the government of the Province of East-Flanders and the city council of Ghent
each Thursday evening at 08:00 PM in July and August
Beginning at 12.45 PM during the Ghent Festivities
The organ was built in 1653-1655 by Louis Bys and Pierre Destrée and shows the coat of arms of bishop Ant. Triest, which indicates that he offered this organ to the cathedral.
